JIT MURAD has, over the past decade, made a significant mark in Malaysian theatre as actor, playwright and director. This award-winning artiste extraordinaire is just as well known for his appearances on film as well as television.
Having earned a Degree in Sociology (Urban Studies) and a Masters in Art History from his tertiary education in the United States, Jit’s involvement in theatre was fortuitous. His first appearance was in Thor Kah Hoongs’s wildly popular Caught In The Middle, which went on to tickle audiences at the Singapore Arts Festival in 1988.
Smitten by the stage, the following year Jit co-founded the Instant Café Theatre Company, an event that redefined the English-language theatre scene in this country. Besides introducing political satire in its revues, ICT (as the company is popularly called) has mounted a long list of intelligent, well-produced plays and even an eclectic arts festival on the grounds of the Carcosa Seri Negara. |
