Harith’s directorial/acting debut on a TV comedy series called Jangan Ketawa (literally translated: Don’t Laugh) was the highest rated programme on Malaysian TV from 1991–1993. During those years the nation’s TV viewing audience would literally stop everything to sit down in front of the box every Wednesday night to catch this popular series.  With re-runs today on the region’s prime cable TV, Astro, Harith’s fan base continues to grow immensely.

From that he moved on to writing, directing and acting in some of the most loved and fondly remembered TV-Movies such as Lagu Selina (TV3), Dunia Rees & Ina (TV3), Kugiran (TV3) and Rupa-Rupanya (Astro Ria).   In 1997, he won the Best New Director Award at the Malaysian Film Festival Awards for his feature film debut Hanya Kawan (Just Friends) starring Malaysia’s Rock Queen, Ella. As with all his other productions Harith also wrote, acted and edited the film. In the new Millennium, Harith was seen worldwide in the Fox Studios production of Anna and the King, starring Jodie Foster and Chow Yun Fat. He played one of the King’s (Yun Fat) bodyguards and, as usual, had the audience rolling in the aisle in the pivotal bridge scene at the end of the movie.
